THE WIKIHOUSING BUILDING RISES IN POBLE-SEC

Work on the WikiHousing project is progressing at a good pace and is entering one of the most significant stages of its schedule: vertical assembly. Following the prefabrication process, the building has begun to grow rapidly on-site, materializing months of collective work and open design into a tangible physical structure that is already transforming the urban environment.

At this moment, the second floor has been completed. The fitting of the modules was carried out with the expected precision, consolidating the base upon which we have begun to raise the third floor this week. Although the assembly logistics are optimized to complete one level per week, the unstable weather in Barcelona over the last few days has forced us to adjust the pace, slightly extending the work to guarantee safety and the protection of materials.

This assembly phase is not only a construction milestone but also the validation test for the modular timber system we are promoting. The speed of execution—despite the inclement weather—highlights the advantages of industrialized and decarbonized construction, capable of drastically reducing deadlines and disturbances to the neighborhood compared to conventional methods.

We continue working on raising the third floor with our sights set on completing the structure. Each module assembled brings us a step closer to the final goal: proving that affordable, ecological, and citizen-built housing is not just a hypothesis, but a reality that can already be visited at street level.
